Mission and Team
Welcome to mission2films. We are a young energetic and creative new film production house with partnerships throughout Canada, the United States, England, Poland, Slovakia, and Italy. Our goal is to help bring to the screen emotionally charged think-films that deliver spirtually rich payloads. In this endevour we voice anew Robert Bresson's dictum -- "Make visible what, without you, might never have been seen."
Anton R. Casta
Producer, director, and screen writer with mission2films, Anton is the former director of St. Max Media and co-creator of Life Site News, StandUpGirl, Catholic Canada, and a variety of other new media missions. He is the founder of Media Cova -- a community and network of Catholic artists building authentic culture.
He has served as media consultant for the Vatican, Envoy Magazine, the Catholic Register, The Interim, the Pontifical Institute of Medieval Studies, various Archdioceses and Diocese throughout North America, the Centre for Cyrptographic Research (University of Waterloo) and for the Caring Foundation.
His work has been broadcast on Vision TV, Salt+Light TV, EWTN. His photography has appeared in a plethora of publications with showings at Hart House Gallery, St. Michael's College, The University of Waterloo and he has received the Kodak International Newspaper Snapshot Award and multiple hand-made prizes from his toddlers.
He holds an honours B.A in History and a B.E.S in Enviromental Studies from the University of Waterloo and a Masters Degree in History from the University of Toronto.
An eternal student of history and avid photographer and fisherman, Anton has always been drawn to the telling of "big" tales -- stories that live between two points, beneath the surface tension of adjoining worlds; visual stories that can be told through the interplay of light and form -- to emotionaly engage an audience and allow grace to challenge, heal, and build-up. He resides with his wife and nine children in Barry's Bay, Ontario.
John D. O'Brien
Editor, essayist, and scriptwriter, John was born in British Columbia, studied journalism at Franciscan University of Steubenville and has a degree in communications from the University of Ottawa. He has worked for several media organizations in the U.S. and Canada, including Saint Luke Productions (drama and film) and St. Jude Media (books). He was the founding editor of The Catholic Herald, a diocesan newspaper, and has written for numerous publications including The Catholic Register (Canada) and The Sower (U.K.). He has been the editor of many best-selling books.
For five years John was director of Wayside Academy, an independent classical-curriculum school in Ontario, and helped launch another school in Ottawa. He was also active in organizing conferences for young Catholic leaders in North America, and has appeared on Salt & Light TV.
In 2008 John earned a degree in philosophy from the Pontifical Gregorian University (Rome), and is now a member of the Society of Jesus. He is pursuing studies in theology and media theory at the University of Toronto, and maintains an avid interest in film, literature, and sacred music.
John echoes Hans Urs von Balthasar's observation that "Our situation today shows that beauty demands for itself at least as much courage and decision as do truth and goodness, and she will not allow herself to be separated and banned from her two sisters without taking them along with herself in an act of mysterious vengeance."
John works to see the three sisters united in artistic works of exceptional brilliance.
John Paul Harmon
A mechanical engineer by profession Paul is also the founder of the StandUpGirl Foundation assisting young women in crisis pregnancy. Working with Anton he succeeded in deployment of effective media campaigns and the coordination of crisis support teams.
